The public state index
JobRoute publishes AI workforce readiness for all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the United States, computed from public data and free to use. Browse every state.
- What each state page shows
- The share of workers in high-exposure occupations, the composite AI Ready Score and rank, the most exposed occupations with worker counts, and CSV downloads.
- Score direction
- A higher AI Ready Score means a more AI-ready workforce. Higher task exposure means more of the work is AI-doable today.
- National score
- The United States scores 61 on the index run with the Anthropic Economic Index June 2026 release.
- Why the headline is the share of exposed workers
- The composite score varies only a few points across the states, from 57.9 to 63.0, so the share of workers in high-exposure occupations shows the differences more clearly.

State briefings
For agency leadership, a workforce board or a governor's policy office, a founder presents your state's results and answers questions on the method.
Who it is for
- State workforce agencies and labor market information offices
- Local workforce development boards
- Governors' and mayors' policy teams
- Economic development organizations planning for AI-related change in their region
A briefing covers
- Your state's headline numbers and how they compare with the nation.
- The most exposed occupations in your state, with worker counts.
- The early-career pipeline measure, built on Stanford Digital Economy Lab and ADP Research findings.
- The adjacent roles that workers in exposed occupations can move into.
- The method and sources behind every number.
Measuring programs under WIOA
Our white paper explains how WIOA Title I authorities can fund AI-displacement reskilling and how to design measurement backward from the six Section 116 performance indicators a board already reports. JobRoute supplies the measurement layer. Eligibility decisions stay with the board under state policy.
Data you can check
- Sources
- O*NET 30.3, BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics for states (May 2025), BLS Employment Projections (2024 to 2034), the Anthropic Economic Index (June 2026 release) and the WEF Future of Jobs Report 2025. Read the methodology.
- Same engine for every state
- The government view uses the same scoring engine as the company and individual products, with no changes per audience.
- Modeled figures are labeled
- Where a figure is modeled rather than measured, the public page and the briefing say so.
- Independent
- JobRoute is a private company doing independent analysis of public data, and it is not affiliated with any government agency.

Questions from agencies
Is the state data free?
Yes. Every state page, and the national page, is public, free and needs no login. The downloads are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0 with attribution. See the open data.
Where does the data come from?
O*NET 30.3 for occupations and tasks, BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics for state employment (May 2025), BLS Employment Projections (2024 to 2034), the Anthropic Economic Index (June 2026 release) for observed AI use by task, and the WEF Future of Jobs Report 2025. The early-career pipeline measure uses Stanford Digital Economy Lab and ADP Research findings.
What does a higher score mean?
A higher AI Ready Score means a more AI-ready workforce. Task exposure runs the other way: a higher task exposure means more of the work is AI-doable today.
Can you brief our board or our governor's office?
Yes. A founder presents your state's results and answers questions on the method. Request a briefing with the form on this page.
Do you have data for our metro area or county?
The public index is statewide. Ask us about your region and we will tell you plainly what the public data can support.
Is JobRoute affiliated with a government agency?
No. JobRoute is a private company doing independent analysis of public data.
How can an agency fund an engagement?
Our WIOA white paper explains how existing WIOA Title I authorities can fund AI-displacement reskilling and its measurement. Ask for a quote and you will have it in writing within one business day.
